Bioinformatics Project Coordinator
Overview:
SRA is helping NIH to collect, sequence, and characterize diseased tissues by supporting data management. We are responsible for data collection, transformation, dissemination, and quality control of this biological data. We also establish and implement standard operating procedures for the transmission, processing, and storage of data by leveraging existing NIH resources for the analysis and storage of information.
Responsibilities:
Will help support coordination of task and project documentation and reporting. Will act as a junior Bioinformatics Scientist to aid multiple Senior Bioinformatics Scientists.
Required Skills:
3-5 years experience
Bachelor’s degree
Some IT experience or aptitude to communicate with members of a software development team.
Ability to communicate with senior biologists.
Ability to manage issues (via a ticket system) submitted by the project team and end users.
Ability to track issues and questions from multiple components of a large Gov’t project at many distributed sites, and route information to appropriate people.
Ability to write and manage project reports and documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask well.
Desired Skills:
Some knowledge of HTML and troubleshooting desired.
Ability to use a Wiki.
